New Mexico's Health Quality Improvement Organization

Hospital Quality Initiatives

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), along with every Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) in the nation, has identified crucial clinical topics that affect large numbers of seniors receiving Medicare. These topics consume enormous health care resources and represent opportunities for continued improvements in care. Learn more about how the New Mexico Medical Review Association (NMMRA) can help your hospital make improvement in the following areas of patient care:

Identified Participant Groups

Beginning in the Fall of 2005, NMMRA will work with identified participant groups (IPGs) on four projects for acute care and critical access hospitals. Select the appropriate link below for the latest information on these IPGs.

The 5 Million Lives Campaign

The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) 5 Million Lives Campaign is an initiative to engage U.S. hospitals in a commitment to implement changes proven to improve patient care and protect patients from five million incidents of medical harm over the next two years (December 2006 - December 2008). To reach this goal, hospitals must begin at least one of the five new initiatives set forth by the IHI. NMMRA and the New Mexico Hospital Association, serving together as the New Mexico Campaign Node, support hospital efforts to implement these initiatives and can help by keeping hospitals updated on the progress of this initiative in the state and across the nation.
