The Systems Improvement and Organizational Change (SIOC) Project

The SIOC Project focuses on improving health care quality in acute care and critical access hospitals through the adoption of one of the following technology systems in the hospital:

  • Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE)
  • Barcode tracking at the Point-Of-Care (BPOC)
  • Telehealth or telemedicine

Eight New Mexico hospitals have pledged to work on this project with NMMRA over the next several years.

To assist in the adoption of technology, NMMRA:

  • Assesses a hospital’s capabilities and resources for technology adoption
  • Provides a report of the assessment results to senior leadership
  • Works with hospital leadership to develop and implement an action plan
  • Assists with vendor analysis
  • Works with hospital leadership to develop organizational change strategies
  • Provides technical assistance
  • Coordinates a re-assessment of the survey after changes have been implemented

Participants in this project were selected from an applicant pool of New Mexico’s critical access and rural acute care hospitals.
